In August 2022, Courtney and her daughter Michaela embarked on a life-changing mission trip to Honduras. During their time there, they forged meaningful connections with friends and fellow team members. Inspired by this experience, Courtney later spoke to her friend Nicole to discuss how their families could participate in a mission trip as well, despite not knowing where to start or which organization to join.

Determined to make a difference, Courtney shared that she and Michaela had maintained ties with several Honduran team members. With this connection, Courtney approached them for ideas, and after thoughtful discussions, they realized they could turn their aspirations into reality. In April 2023, they set out for a two-week mission trip. The first week was dedicated to collaborating with Sophia, a passionate medical student, and the second was spent with Dr. Sammy Martinez, a dedicated dentist. With the help of Angela, a mutual friend, they meticulously planned an impactful trip.

The mission was clear: to provide 500 children with much-needed backpacks and school supplies. This noble cause became the foundation for our nonprofit, aptly named Mission 500. Since that first trip, we have made significant strides in Honduras, including supplying water to a school, 50 homes and two churches, painting schools, delivering educational materials to teachers, and even helping to build a roof for a local church in various regions.
